Borneo Travels
BORNEOTRAVELS · ABOUT

A field guide made for exploring Borneo well.

Learn why BorneoTravels exists, how destination guides are prepared and the principles behind our wildlife and community guidance.

Why this guide exists

BorneoTravels is an independent travel guide for people planning trips across Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan. Borneo is vast, the regions are distinct, and travel between major highlights can take longer than a map suggests. We bring place guides, route ideas and practical questions together so visitors can choose stops that fit their time and interests.

How the guides are prepared

Destination pages are built from linked public tourism, park, transport and operator sources. We summarize planning information, mark the date a guide was updated and point readers to the responsible source for details that can change. The site does not claim first-hand visits or personal expertise unless a page explicitly says so.

We correct pages when a source or reader points out an issue. For access rules, permits, prices, opening hours and schedules, use the linked local authority or operator as the final check before booking.

Travel with care

Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Keep a respectful distance, follow your guide and park rules, and value the habitat even when animals stay hidden. When visiting a village, longhouse or community space, arrange the visit through an appropriate local host, ask before taking photographs and follow the host’s lead.

We want travel to support local livelihoods and respect the people who call Borneo home. Visitors should listen, pay fairly for agreed services and treat cultural places as living places, not props.
